Through interrogation of some of the recaptured Raft rioters, the Defenders discovered that none other than Electro was responsible for shutting down the Raft’s generator and abducting Lex Luthor. Batman was able to learn that Electro had recently left the country, and so the team made their way to Paris to confront him. Little did they know that SHIELD and Checkmate had already initiated a joint operation to capture Electro, with SHIELD special project Mega Man and Checkmate “work release participant” Moonstone on the scene and staking out the cafe where Electro was trying to convince his ex-girlfriend to leave town with him.
When the Defenders accidentally tipped off Electro to their presence, Mega Man charged into action and Moonstone took Electro’s ex-girlfriend as a hostage. The situation was made even more chaotic when Deadpool showed up, attempting to claim the bounty on Electro’s head. Ray took drastic measures, and flew at Electro at near-light speed, taking both of them far out into the French countryside. There, a fight broke out between Ray and a teleporting Deadpool, who was afraid the do-gooders would prevent him from getting his cut of the action. The violence between the two was only stopped when Nick Fury’s SHIELD helicarrier showed up to claim Electro.
Onboard the helicarrier, Moonstone and Mega Man were added to the roster of the Defenders by Fury himself. Deadpool claimed a “finder’s fee,” as it turned out he was the first to discover Electro’s whereabouts and Moonstone and Mega Man were sent to his location to apprehend Electro.
While interrogating Electro, the team learned that Electro had passed off Luthor to a team of villains, the U-Foes.
